After weeks of working with the system I felt pretty confident I had the settings and vision where I needed it to be. Since that time I have been required to come down and recalibrate the system do to internal issues with personnel which has resulted in escapes. Once again I am finding myself in this situation and wanted to ask about the lenses we installed on this machine. We used a standard high resolution Tamron lens part number 23FM16L for this retrofit. I always have tremendous difficulty when attempting to recalibrate the system because the part may not always be in the exact same place on the conveyor belt when it passes the vision inspection area. I have instances where the part may be closer to one camera than the other causing size measurement problems, or the belt speed may be altered slightly causing the part to enter the vision area at a different rate causing the image to be captured in a slightly different position in the inspection area. Would a telecentric lens be a better option for this system? This system was originally designed using this type of lens. Do you think these benefits would help in the machine calibration and setup? I am tired of fighting with these other lenses. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
